Don Ross: Huron Street

$16.98

Canadian finger-style guitar wizard Don Ross comes to the Echoes living room to play his music live. The only two-time winner of the U.S. Finger-style Guitar Championship, he combines virtuoso technique with inviting, intricately detailed songs. Don Ross plays the music and tells the tales of songs heard on his latest CD, HURON STREET.

On HURON STREET, Ross performs many of his favorite songs, demonstrating an extraordinary talent to create melody, percussion, and voice all on one instrument and with only two hands.

"It's great to have a chance to revisit this group of tunes. They've all been recorded before, but only in Canada. Now that I have friends all over the world who enjoy the music, I'm letting them know about some of the tunes that I've written in the past. I composed most of these when my family and I were living in an ancient little row cottage on Huron Street in downtown Toronto. It was the site of a lot of creativity, and the birthplace of my two daughters. So, this is something of a 'best of' album, but each performance represents a new twist to the arrangements: some of the tunes are redone here on the baritone guitar. Some ensemble tunes are now stripped down to their original solo form. And bassist Jordan O'Connor adds his amazing musicality to two pieces. They're some of the best memories I have of our years on Huron Street..."
