A handsome blend of solo acoustic and light ensemble backed numbers on this powerful and melodic disc. “Shadowcasting” is a whimsical tune reminiscent of the great pianist Vince Guaraldi, while on tunes like “Hammerhead” and “Two Handed Paradox” Smith lays down the riffs as hot and heavy as anyone in the genre. A really well paced disc that rewards repeated listenings.
