As improvisors we challenged ourselves in these sessions ~ new sounds to imagine ~ new feelings to embrace.
This music is dedicated to African American Jazz drummer Teo Sutton, my dear friend,and musical collaborator, creating what he liked to call "spiritual music for the people". Teo came from Philly and grew up with many of our great innovators from the Blue Note Jazz era of the 60's.
Though we lost Teo a few years ago, his gift he gave me of a better understanding of the true spirit of his people's music I carry always deep inside.
One of the last comments he made to me when I changed my own musical direction was, "When are you going to come home to the music?"
