HEARTSTRINGS
About the Artist
Heartstrings is the result of the combined musical efforts of Chapman Stick artists Matt Rogers and Mark White. Stick players are rare indeed; rarer still are Stick duos like Heartstrings. The sound of the two fretboard tapping instruments can be described as lush, rich, and deeply enchanting.
The Chapman Stick and its two-handed playing method were both invented by Emmett Chapman in 1969. The Stick is an all-fretboard instrument that is lightly tapped by both hands; bass, chords, and melody are all produced simultaneously on one instrument. The advantages of piano-style polyphony are present along with the soulfulness of strings.
